I've seen tons of stupid forums posts on newgrounds about furries, most of them full of hate and misconception.
I have to say, as a furry, it is very a pleasent surprise to find some light on this place. I mostly agree with everything you say.
Also, I would like to add something about the misconception #6
Sex in fursuits isn't just gross, its also very hard to practice (or at least I guess so, I never tried, and I won't try it either). See it that way, sex can be considered as a good physical excercise. Fursuits may feel like wearing a mascot suit. Those things are just way too hot! Most people can't last for a long time wearing them without blacking out! And now you expect us to do something like sex in those suits? Come on, most people who tried that probably died from the heat, its just ridiculous. I can't believe some people even tried it :/
How to instantly dismember your whole victim
Here's a funny thing to do that will completely dismember your victim all at once!
FIrst of all, you must nail the head. Be aware this would usualy kill your target. To avoid this, there is a glitch for it. Start by holding the face, and quickly move up so your mouse isn't on it, and then press ctrl (cmd if you are on a mac). It will nail the last point you clicked (the face) but it wont damage as much. Once that is done, just pull on the guys upper body until it tears off. If done right, the whole body will get dismembered ALL AT ONCE.
Enjoy the bloodshed!
Not bad, not bad at all.
Alright, so this is a good old shoot 'em up defence game. And THIS, is a long ass review about it (XP)
Design (7/10) Okay, when it comes to the whole design thing, nothing much impressive, still your old, classic shoot 'em up defence game like we've seen so much. However, when it comes to the design of the characters and enemies, there's something we don't see everyday, which is why I give this a fairly good score for the design. The fact of having the two Characters being Furries, while the enemies aren't, kinda makes them "stand out of the crowd", so we quickly recognize them, and the red and blue pairing along with both characters' fairly different looks kinda both make them unique in their own way, and they don't look like they have overused concepts. So its nothing too much, but still just enough. What I really like though is the design of the enemies. Zombies from pot? Haha, that's just at the same time funny, yet still refreshing from the (overused) virus zombie infection thing (that is starting to get a bit old too). Also, using fans for holding off zombies is at the same time funny and clever :)
Gameplay (8/10) While there isn't anything especialy impressive, the game itself handles well. No big glitches, no spasmic controls, and the game is very quick to get ahold of even if you never played it. Also, the AI (your ally) works fine, I don't have any complaints about it.
Graphics (6/10) Well, it ain't ugly, but it ain't fantastic either. The effects are minimal but still present, and some of the models could be more detailed.
Overall rating: 7/10 (3.5/5)
Some minor suggestions:
- The red 9: First of all, its not a red 9, its a C96 (mauser). The nickname Red 9 comes from the red 9 on its handle (showing it was in 9mm), and that was a nickname from RE4, so better just use the real name. Also, you shouldn't make it a basic weapon, since its a quite powerful pistol, and its very rare.
- Other upgrades: Non-weapons upgrade, other than the fan, could be interesting. Things like better defences (barricades and such), barbed wires to damage enemies when they attack, turrets, etc
Just what I needed!
About a week ago I buyed Minecraft and totally got addicted to it. And now, I come back on Newgrounds, and what do I see on the front page? Wow... just wow... its just what I needed!
The flash is very complete. A simple, quick and easy-to-use yet complete interface design that lets you understand quickly how to use it, and still covers pretty much everything you'd want to have. There are very little or no glitches (I have found none for now), and it works much better than all those complex skin-editing apps or softwares, not to mention most of them ain't free.
You managed to nail it all in a free, easy to use and understand, flash game that even supports the game's 3D graphics. Amazing job! All my Five are belong to this!
Now all you need is to upload your skins for all to share :D
Has potential, but some things should be changed
the game has potential, but has also many problems
- VERY spasmic controls. The shaking effect on the mouse controled movements makes it spasmic and confusing
- Frustrating. The game don't seem to be gradualy changing in diffuculty, the rocks seem to be rather simply spawning endlessly
- No fun factor. Unfortunately there isn't anything much about this game that makes you want to keep playing it
So yeah, that taken, yes the game has potential graphicaly, but the fun factor is pretty low
New style of game
I can't explain it, but somehow this game leaves me speechless. Great work
- Graphics 8/10: The graphics are simple, yet realy adequate to the game. Those aren't especialy impressive graphics, but I see that it was the idea to give it a simple look, and the effects are great.
- Concept and gameplay: 7/10: While this is not the concept of the year, it is still a very orignal concept. Its a new, refresing kind of platformer. However, the gameplay might seem pretty «spasmic» and hard to get used to at first. Also, the infinite amount of lifes cuts off the difficulty level harshly.
- Voices: 9/10: the voices are well made, and they are nicely recorded, and add a pinch of humor. Of course its gore humor, «MY RIBS ARE IN MY EYES! THEY'RE IN MY EYES», but it is appropriate to the game and add a little more of enjoyment to it.
- Lifespan: 0/10: I know it might hard to make a good game, and even harder to make it long, but when a game can be finished in less than one minute, there's bound to be a LOT of improvement. I unfortunately can't see much efforts on this point, so I find myself unable to give you any points for this.
Overall rating: 6/10 (okay game): I am very disapointed to give a not-so-good rating to this game. The game itself as alot of potential, with good graphics, a new concept, good gameplay and a nice voice cast, but like I said before, its WAY too short. This game would have deserved a much better score, but with a lifespan inferior to one minute, I cannot give you a great rating.
I've ignored some big reviews to my games recently, but I'm in a really talky mood right now, so I wanna respond to this one.
-Thanks on the graphics, I tried to make it look like a basic Kirby/Mario platformer, and didn't go super complex cos I just wanted to get it finished without spending too long on it.
-A lot of people hate the controls, an that's fair enough because sometimes they just don't work, but I think you missed the point on the difficulty. There's never a game-over in this, and I don't want there to be. Rubik's Cubes are hard, Monopoly is hard, and Trials is hard even though you can play it all day without running out of lives. I put a game-over in Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar, and it just kinda spoiled the game. Nobody wanted to try again, and it killed the joke-- I'll come back to this in a sec..
-LIFESPAN; this is the main reason I'm replying. The game was designed to be short. It was designed around the joke that this guy is stuck in a horrible time-loop. If it was any longer the joke would stop being funny, or it'd be too easy to predict the ending, or the basic mechanic of the beam cannon'd get boring. The bigger the gap between the setup and the punchline, the worse off the game would be- that's the way I see it.
Same with Robot Dinosaurs, like I said, that game's built around a similar joke. The dinosaurs roar; it's funny in the first cutscene, then it's funny for about a minute of gameplay, then the cutscene comes back n it's done. The game really loses steam if you're stuck hearing the same joke for like 5 minutes.
Also- in both games- there's not much you can do with that mechanic before it starts to get boring or weird.
By the way; there are two secret routes in the game that lead to slightly different endings. I didn't mention them anywhere, they just got out through word of mouth-- you'll see a lot of it if you flick through the reviews.
So if you want a bit more gameplay from this or if you want something harder, play it again and go in the wrong directions. Try to get to places you shouldn't be allowed to get to, and you'll find some stuff.
That's another advantage of it being really short: it's really easy to hunt for secrets.
Thanks for playing, and takin the time to write a fuckin huge review.
Seems to me like a faster, better and funner Newgrounds Rumble
This is a great reproduction of one of the biggest masterpiece of all the history of videogame. Also I like being able to use characters from other games
